A young man had been seeing a girl for several months. He wanted to ask her to marry him but he couldn't get up the nerve, and did not know quite how to proceed.
Finally, he asked his father.
"Dad," he said, "I want to marry Jane but I haven't the slightest idea of the right way to ask her."
"Son," said his father, "just ask her. There isn't any wrong way."
